Originally designed as a durable, water, and fire resistant fabric for warmth and shelter, handmade felt has withstood the ages. Today, it makes a rough luxe statement that elevates any room with a texture and organic richness rarely found in the modern world.
Kristin Kelly Colombano has always been an artist. With a degree in painting and photography from San Francisco Art Institute, years working as a professional graphic designer, and a personal practice of hand-knitting and tapestry weaving, her practice is broad and multi-disciplinary. It was on a photo assignment to Mongolia for The Asia Foundation in 2010 that she discovered the ancient craft of felting and fell in love with the process and the resulting pieces. Since then she’s studied with renowned felters from Ireland to Israel, with plenty of practice in between. This discipline is a practice seldom seen in the states, which makes Fog + Fury all the more unique.
